One hundred pennies make a dollar, and small steps make a book.

Oct 13, 2026

When I was seven, I complained to my cousin Toby that I had only a few coins to spend on candy. We decided to hunt for pennies and nickels under the couch cushions and in my parents' cars. Toby encouraged me the whole time. "Remember, Jody," she said, "100 pennies make a dollar."

That day in 1981, we found enough change to buy a KitKat. More than forty years later, I still remember the lesson. Small actions create results.

Books work the same way. Nobody writes, edits, and publishes a book in one sitting. A book grows from one small, brave step, then another, then another.

Many writers stay stuck in someday because they wait for clarity, confidence, or perfection before they begin. I have watched the opposite happen again and again. Action comes first, and clarity and confidence follow close behind.

When you work with my team and me, I help you find clarity, I carry enough confidence for both of us, and my team handles the details that make your book shine. You only have to take the first step.

This month, your first step is a single call. Schedule your Publishing Pathway Call with us using the link below. Whether you need coaching, publishing, or both, we will help you choose the right path. If you have already published with us, the same call can claim a spot for your next book.

P.S. Small steps work for introductions, too. Think of one or two writers you know who keep saying someday. Forward this email and copy me at [email protected], and I will take the next step with them.
